Another service we specialise in is the special transport of heavy machinery throughout Spain. We recently successfully carried out the special transport of this 53-tonne excavator in Girona using one of our lowbed.
This recent project confirmed not only our technical capabilities, but also the safety and manoeuvrability required when transporting large equipment by road.
At Transportes Angel Velasco, we have special flatbeds for transporting heavy machinery or public works equipment, such as this ‘beam flatbed’. This type of flatbed allows the excavator's chassis to be adapted to the flatbed bed, leaving the caterpillar wheels suspended. This type of load is known as a “straddle” public works load. The pneumatic suspension is key to negotiating bridges and complex urban sections without damaging the infrastructure or taking unnecessary risks.
These lowbed are specialised in the transport of public works machinery, as their added value lies in their low bed, making it possible to load heavy machines up to 4.6 metres high and weighing up to 80 tonnes anywhere in Spain, thus ensuring the completion of logistics projects in public and private works.
The 60-degree turning radius provided by the pendulum axles allows equipment such as the Volvo 480, the star of the latest transfer, to access spaces that are difficult to manoeuvre in urban and rural areas. This excavator model, measuring 12.21 x 3.09 x 3.38 metres and weighing a total of 53 tonnes, exemplifies the versatility of the fleet, which is capable of supporting even heavier loads, up to the 80-tonne limit stipulated by the beam lowbed.
